According to Sport Bild, Manchester United have entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic at the end of the season.
What’s the story?
Pulisic, 19, has long been linked with a move away from Dortmund.
The United States international has scored three times in 19 Bundesliga appearances this season, and has previously expressed a desire to turn out in the Premier League
Liverpool were believed to be the English club in the running for the teenager, but according to Sport Bild, Man United are very much in the argument.
The report claims that the bitter rivals will lock horns in a battle for Pulisic at the end of the current season, although Dortmund will put up a fight to keep hold of one of the brightest young attackers in world football.
The fact that Pulisic, who is valued at £40.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, would bring huge marketing potential in the United States is also believed to have played a role in Man United joining the race.
What would Pulisic bring to Man United?
Pulisic does not turn 20 until September, but he has already made 81 first-team appearances for Dortmund – scoring 11 times in the process.
Previously, Man United boss Jose Mourinho has spoken of the need for specialist players for each position on the field, but the Portuguese has been a fan of the more versatile operator in recent years.
Capable of operating in the number 10 role or on either wing, Pulisic would bring that versatility and indeed quality to the 20-time English champions.
His low centre of gravity would make him absolutely perfect for the fast-paced nature of the Premier League, and his personality would also fit in at Old Trafford.
Pulisic, who has scored nine times in 20 appearances for his country, will seemingly have to choose between Man United and Liverpool at the end of the season.
It would be extremely exciting to welcome the United States international to the Premier League, and whoever manages to secure his signature would be acquiring a serious talent.
